Review Studios’ artists are chosen through a nomination process, followed by a two-step review process. A nominating committee comprised of local gallery owners, directors, and stakeholders from Kansas City’s visual art community, is asked to nominate three to four local artists, per committee member, to apply for this opportunity.  Each application received is then forwarded to current Review Studios’ artists for comments about each nominees’ qualifications for the program. A selection panel consisting of local art community representatives and some Review Inc board members review each application and make the final decision. 

Review Studios does not accept unsolicited requests or applications for a studio. The following qualifications are those Review Studios seeks when selecting artists.
  

• A willingness to support program objectives by maintaining a strong studio presence, maximizing use of available facilities to create significant work, contributing to a collegial creative atmosphere, and participating in studio community activities.

• A strong desire to produce art as demonstrated by a solid track record.

• A focus on his or her unique definition of “next level” of professional achievement.

• A primary home in GKC now, or are willing to relocate to live in GKC for the duration of the Studio residency.
